The Business Community and The State of The Union Address

2/12/2013

President Obama will give his fifth State of the Union tonight at 9pm ET and the business community is looking forward to hearing how Obama will increase American jobs and economy prosperity.

When President Barack Obama addresses Congress, he is expected to lay out how his vision will reduce unemployment, restore economic prosperity for Americans and combat climate change. The President will lay out initiatives on energy, education, manufacturing, and infrastructure – including asking for support in spending on infrastructural improvements and making America attractive for manufacturing. Experts anticipate these initiatives will include offsets to avoid adding to the deficit. In regards to education, Obama is expected to stress the importance of preparing America’s youth for the job market through quality education. The President will also make clear climate change remains a priority of his administration.

American businesses, the jobs they create and the quality of life they provide, is a core part of what makes America, America. American businesses are known for their innovation and their products and services play an enormous role in our everyday lives. Their efforts and successes contribute not only to America’s economy and our global success, but entrepreneurship is an essential part of the American story and sets our country apart from so many others. Like the President, the business community cares a great deal about all of the issues mentioned above and many more that were not. With the rich history of American leadership in business, also comes a great wealth of knowledge acquired by our country’s business leaders. American businesses hopes that when shaping and promoting his new initiatives, President Obama, will consider all the resources that are available to our government and reach out to the business community as a helpful ally and source for ideas and information. Together we can help to bring prosperity back to America and we look forward to working closely with the President for the next four years.
